Sybil Shainwald, graduate of the night class of 1976, is a Women’s Health Advocate and plaintiffs’ counsel specializing in social justice and women’s rights. Shainwald has litigated cases involving drugs and devices harmful to women and their children including as co-counsel on Bichler v. Lilly, the nation’s first victory against the pharmaceutical drug Diethylstilbestrol (DES). She has pioneered women’s rights in New York State and around the world in Bangladesh, India, Kenya, and China. She currently sits on the Board of Trustees of New York Law School and continues to be a women’s health activist, often writing and lecturing on issues impacting women in the 21st Century.
