Description

In addition to becoming the first black Assemblyman in the Bronx, New York Law School's Walter Gladwin was also the first black Criminal Court judge and the first black assistant district attorney in the Bronx. Among the more notable cases over which he presided as a judge was the stabbing of Adele Morales Mailer, Norman Mailer's second wife. Gladwin also served as president of the Bronx chapter of the NAACP.
