Walter E. Hope, Class of 1903, was one of the founding partners of Milbank, Tweed, Hope & Webb (formed on March 1, 1931), as successor to the merged firms of Masten & Nichols (which Hope had joined in 1902, becoming a partner in 1909) and Murray, Aldrich & Roberts. The new firm eventually came to be known as Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. Albert G. Milbank, Class of 1898, was another of the founding partners and was the managing senior parter in the late 1920s.
